Why No Miracles?

I have wondered with dismay for years why we don't see the miracles that we read about in the Bible. We pray, and sometimes people don't get well. They suffer the rest of their lives, or they don't make it. Maybe they slowly get better. WHY?

I believe I've found something, so I'll lay it out for you to consider.

Mark 16:15-20:
"He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.'
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it."

Acts 14:3: "So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders."

1 Corinthians 2:1-5:
"When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power."

Philippians 1:7: It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me."

Hebrews 2:4: "God testified to it [this salvation] by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will."

Luke 24:46-48: "He told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.'"

Here is how I understand this. Our mission as disciples of Christ is to proclaim the gospel to every creature, and make disciples. The Lord confirms the gospel with signs, wonders, miracles, and spiritual gifts as he wills. Perhaps the problem is that we are not truly sharing the gospel. God will confirm the gospel with miracles.
